Fresh Squeezed:

a creative wellness craft club

As I step into the year of bold, here's my first baby step.

Introducing Fresh Squeezed: creative wellness craft club. A space for people to come together and create from a space of joy, curiosity, and community.

Since I was little, crafting and art have been how I process and express my emotions in their purest form.

When I would feel angry or sad as a kid, I would pull out my scissors and craft for hours, making paper dolls, portraits, zines, and anything else my brain could express through my hands. I would get lost in the making and come out the other side clearer and steadier than I entered.

As an adult, art has saved me time and time again. After an unexpected pregnancy, I picked up a camera, and it saved my life. After a global pandemic and life halting panic attacks, I picked up ceramics, and it changed my life.

Over and over, art has been a portal to well-being for me, and as such, I have always dreamed of a space where I could share that portal with others.

I used to think that space would only happen when I could steady my life and create enough income that I could sign a lease – an in-person community art therapy space has lived in my head for so long. But in the past two years, my life has taken so many turns, and with each twist, it has felt further away until I realized maybe I don't need to start with a space. Maybe I could just share this with my community in the communal spaces we already hold dear. So here we are – our year of bold – taking a leap and starting a craft club. Popping up in collaboration in some of my favorite spaces and with some of my favorite people in Charlotte.

I hope that through this space, we can all remember that we are our own creators and that our well-being is intrinsically tied to our communal ties and our own expression.

Keep an eye out for details on events and bring a friend!
